Hi. I have been curious about this headset for a few months. As someone who used Cloud II in the past and was not very satisfied with it, I wanted to give Cloud III a chance. The headset arrived today, I tried it a few times and I want to share my impressions with you in short sentences, without further ado, and compare it with Cloud II because some users say Cloud II is better and they don't like it.
First of all, if we start with the boxing, I think the sponge boxing used in the first versions of Cloud II was a bit nicer, this one is average. It's just any headphone box. We shouldn't get too hung up on it, but I think the way a product is presented to the user is an important detail, I think it shows how much the brand cares about that product. Still, it's not bad, of course.
What comes in the box:
- Headphones
- Microphone
- USB Dongle
- USB-C to USB-A Converter
- Booklet
Unlike Cloud II, the fabric ear pads and carrying case are not included. It would have been nice if a carrying case was included, even though the pads are.
Still, the box is not empty, the headset's own cable is the jack input and they did not leave out the Type-C Dongle and Type-C to Type-A adapter. It is very good that the USB Dongle comes with a Type-C cable. It allows you to use it on your phone and handheld consoles. I tried it on my phone, I could not get as clear a sound as on my computer, but it is still usable, I think the phone cannot feed it enough.
I really liked the quality of the materials. I think it is one of the best in terms of external quality in this budget. It feels much more solid than Razer or Logitech headsets. Quality plastic and metal parts are used. I also think it feels better than the Cloud II.
I can say that it is quite comfortable in terms of comfort, but it is a shame that they removed the fabric ear pads, there is only leather. Still, they used soft and comfortable pads, I did not feel any discomfort in 3-4 hours of use. The LED light they put on the microphone, which turns on when the microphone is not active, is also well thought out. In addition, the pads are successful in sound isolation.
I really liked the sound performance. I was satisfied while listening to music, watching series and especially playing games. There were those who said that I can't turn up the volume, the sound is muffled, but I definitely didn't experience this, it has a very clean and clear sound.
Here are the technical specifications given by HyperX:
- Driver: 53mm with neodymium magnets
- Frequency: 10Hz-21kHz
- Sensitivity: -42dBV (0dB=1V/Pa at 1kHz)
- T.H.D (Total Harmonic Distortion): <2%
- Frame type: Aluminum
- Ear Cushions: Foam and premium (I wouldn't say premium, but quality) leather
- Microphone: Electret condenser microphone
- Microphone Sensitivity: -42dBV (0dB=1V/Pa at 1kHz)
- Weight: 303 grams (317 grams with microphone)
- Cable Length: 1.2 meter headphone cable + 1.3 meter dongle cable
As for the microphone, I can say that it is better than the Cloud II. The Cloud II was mediocre, this one definitely provides a cleaner and clearer sound, but it is still not perfect.
In my Cloud II review here, I said that Cloud II is good, it can be purchased, but there are better alternatives in that budget. Cloud III did not make me say that, you probably cannot buy a much better headset for this money. Some friends say that Cloud II is better than Cloud III, that III gives muffled sound and does not lag. Some say that this is related to the software of the headset, I have not installed it yet. I think it is more logical not to install it for now.
